Is It Possible To Get Ovarian Cancer At Age 16?
A few months ago, during my period I was suddenly struck with a sharp, throbbing pain in my lower right abdomen.
I called the doctor and they told me to just drink warm liquids. After much pain and nausea for 2 weeks it finally went away.
I was very relieved, but to my horror the pain came back when I got my period the next month. This time the pain was so bad I could barely breath, let alone talk. Since that day, my pain has never left. It has decreased in the level of pain though.
It gets very severe when I get my periods.
I finally saw a doctor who ordered an ultra sound. I apparently have several cysts on my right ovary(more than the usual amount) and I have fluid in my abdomen. After that they started me on low dose of birth control. That however doesn’t seem to help with the pain and it’s been a little over a month and a half.
I feel nauseated all the time. I also have no appetite. When I do eat I fell really full and bloated. I also feel extremely fatigue. I want to sleep all the time and I feel weak. It’s affecting my life so much. My grades in school are suffering.
The doctor thought I might have bladder problems so she ordered a Cat scan and a urine sample. It turns out the only thing that showed up on my ct was my large cyst on my ovary. My urine sample showed blood. I’m not sure exactly if this is bad.
I have to see a specialist in a few weeks. I’m nervous because I think I might have to have the large cyst removed. People are telling me it might be a tumor or ovarian cancer.
Is this possible? I’m only 16.
My family doesn’t have any history of this. The only thing I can think of is my mom suffered with severe endometriosis and had to have one ovary removed.
Any information is useful…thanks
